At least, 3,000 persons with various degrees of eye problems from Akegbe–Ugwu, Nkanu West council, Enugu State will benefit from a five-day free eye treatment conducted by a non-governmental organization, the Kings Care Empowerment Foundation (KINCEF).

The exercise will see many receiving eye examinations, free eye glasses and treatments, while cases that may not be handled by experts at the venue would be referred to the Enugu State Teaching Hospital and University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku-Ozalla.

Chief Operating Officer, KINCEF, Mr. Ugochukwu Agu, told reporters at the commencement of the exercise at the weekend that the foundation was set out for eye-related issues, adding that investigations conducted indicated that many had lost sight due to poverty.

Agu said though the free exercise was the first among the several programmes of the organization, it made the less privileged its focal point because they are often neglected by government.
