The Federal Government at the weekend gave N300, 000 empowerment package to 40 persons with disabilities (PWDs) and 188 youths and women each at the graduation ceremonies of Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs for trainees in Delta, Edo and Akwa Ibom states.

In Asaba, the Delta State capital, 84 trainees received their certificates at the ceremony.

Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Uguru Usani, who was represented by Head of Training and Empowerment, Dr. Iliasu Mohammed, said the trainees were charged to put the knowledge acquired to good use.

Also, Senator Sam Anyanwu (Imo State), who was at the graduation ceremony in Benin City, reportedly advised the trainees to make the best use of the knowledge acquired and the start up funds.

One of the beneficiaries from the Akwa Ibom, Akaninyene Isidore said: “Before now, PWDs were irrelevant in the society, but we are grateful to President Muhammadu Buhari for developing people with disabilities through the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.”
