The ongoing 56th annual conference and 2026 general meeting of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers ( NIESV) which was targeted among other objectives, will set the tone for what happens next in the Estate Survey and Value industry/ Sector
The Forum also provided a platform for the members across the globe, stakeholders in the real estate industry, government functionaries, policy makers, operators and regulators of the real estate practice, and members of the academia, to brainstorm on strategic issues of national importance.
Others include share notes and ideas on the roles, relevance and power of the real estate in driving the national economy on a sustainable growth and national development path.
The theme of the conference that will last for five days , 13 – 18 April, 2026 at the Ochendo International Conference Center in Umuahia, the Abia state capital was ” Corridors, Connectivity, and Capital : Rethinking Real Estate Development Along Renewed Hope Infrastructure Investments”
The NIESV President/ Chairman , Chief Dr Victor Adekunle Alonge during the press conference he addressed before the takeoff of the Conference, said that the theme was a call to strategically drive and stimulate real estate development, create wealth, attract foreign investment and generate employment through the corridor-focussed infrastructure ( roads, highways, railways, ports ) to enhance connectivity, link people, goods and services in a more efficient manner, and thereby, reduce risk, make the economy friendly and conducive to capital flow, investment opportunities.
” This conference, he said ” is our moment to imagine, and lay the ground work for long term economic stability, growth and bench-marking on real estate”.
According to him, while ” this strategic and innovative approach will catalyze, stimulate real estate development, and ultimately re- engineer Nigeria’s economy on the path of sustainable development, the conference has been strategically designed to transcend our accustomed trajectory, in that it shall identify and explore grounds for the real estate industry’s transformation, opportunities to thrive maximally, make the government realize more than before, that government-led infrastructure progrommes and investments would reshape development priorities and make the Renewed Hope agenda realizable”.
Addressing the NIESV members who visited him in government house Umuahia, led by their President , Dr Victor Alonge, the Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti told them of his disposition to partner NIESV members and other institutions that share similar visions that can develop Abia State.
Otti said ” we consider ourselves partners to institutions and people who have the same vision and who share our aspiration for a better Abia state and our people.
“We have worked closely with members of this institution in Abia State and I think we will even redouble that effort.
“There are a lot of things we are doing in the real estate side that will require your involvement and that of your members, and I think this offers us an opportunity to close ranks and work closer with each other,”
Governor Otti thanked the institution for choosing to hold this year’s conference and annual general meeting for the first time in Abia State, and assured them of necessary support and assistance from the state government and it’s officials.
Governor Otti who reiterated his commitment to establishing a 5-Star Hotel in Umuahia, the state capital, to provide modern accommodation to visitors and tourists, wished the NIESV members fruitful deliberations and successful annual conference and general meeting in the state.
While addressing the governor, the NIESV President, Dr Victor Alonge noted Abia’s huge contributions to the development of the NIESV, expressing appreciation to Governor Otti for his logistics support to the institution in the State and the good working relationship between members of the Institution and the State government.
Noting that this is the first time Abia state is hosting the NIESV annual conference, and for which he expressed delight it is happening during governor administration, the NIESV President, commended and appreciated Otti for the good working relationship between the members of the Abia NIESV Chapter and the State government.
“And we would continue to offer the State our professional services in line with the best global practices, as well as articulated and documented code of professional ethics,”.
He said that their members have progressively impacted the State in the areas of policy formulation, Land Administration, Asset Management and Administration, Housing and Project development in general.
Alonge further stated that the Governor Otti’s transformation drives, and sound policies have opened up the State to local and foreign investments which he asserted , has significantly strengthened the economy of the State.
According to the NIESV President, a Communique on the conference, during which various notable professionals were lined up to present papers, will be prepared and made public after the conference.
