Abductors seize Edo PDP chieftain, demand N20m

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ugbo Iyiriaro, has been reportedly kidnapped along Benin-Abraka Road.

The Guardian learnt that the incident occurred on Tuesday between Ugo and Ugboko communities in Orhionmwon Council of Edo State.

It was also learnt that Iyiriaro left Benin for his community before the kidnappers aborted the journey half way.

A source, who pleaded anonymity, said Iyiriaro was driving to his Umoghunokhua Community with a plan to return to Benin shortly after, when the abductors seized him.

It was further gathered that the kidnappers had already made contact with the family of the victim, demanding for N20 m ransom.

When contacted, Edo Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bello Kontongs, failed to answer several calls made to his mobile phone at the time of filing this report.
