Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has extolled synergy with Army Brigade in pipeline protection in the state.
The state commandant, Mr. Paul Igwebuike, commended Nigerian Army’s professionalism, discipline, passion and commitment to training and re-training of its officers and men in “light arms and weapons handling”, which he said impacted their weapons handling proficiency.
Igwebuike, who spoke to The Guardian after his meeting with the Commander of the 14 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Adegoke Moses Adetuyi, at the Brigade office at Ohafia, Abia State, said their meeting reviewed their collaborative strategies to ensure protection of the oil pipelines and sustenance of peace in the state.
According to him, criminal elements leverage on their intelligence network to launch attacks when they have convincing evidence of disunity among conventional security operatives.
He stressed that no one agency knows it all or can do it all alone, hence the need for synergy and collaboration.
“We are determined to build and strengthen synergy and collaboration among security agencies in the state because security agencies are more effective when inter-agency rivalries are jettisoned and collaboration is encouraged.”
On his part, the Brigade Commander commended the NSCDC Commandant for collaborating with other sister security agencies in the state in sustaining the prevailing relative peace in the state, which he said, was achieved at great price.
According to Adetuyi, the just concluded general elections in Abia State witnessed less security hitches contrary to the unpatriotic predictions by mischief makers in the build up to the elections and reiterated his Brigade’s disposition to sustain partnership with state NSCDC Command on manpower training and logistics to enhance their operations.
