Abia State government has agreed with labour to pay N30,100 as minimum wage in the state.

Abia State government has agreed with labour to pay N30,100 as minimum wage in the state.

The agreement was signed by the Head of Service, Sir Onyii Wamah; Commissioner of Finance, Dr. Aham Uko; and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Anthony Agbazuere, for the government.

Labour leaders, including Chris Okoro of Public Service Joint Negotiating Council, Uchenna Obigwe of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Sunny Onwuma of Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Kennedy Nwaigwe of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) signed for the workers.

The parties agreed that payment of the new wage should take effect from January 2020, as labour accepted the consequential adjustments in the new wage.
