Abia varsity restates commitment to rescue abducted provost
The Gregory University Uturu (GUU), Uturu, in Abia State has intensified rescue-search for its College of Medicine and Surgery Provost, Professor Uwadinachi Iweha, who was abducted from his country home in Umuajameze in Umuahia South Local Council.
Since his abduction on Sunday, June 5, 2022, there has been no communication between the provost’s family, the university and the Kidnappers, despite an undisclosed ransom allegedly paid to his abductors.
The vice chancellor of the university, Professor Augustine Uwakwe, who led top management staff, including the Acting Registrar, Pastor Chukwuemeka Idika, to visit the abducted provost’s wife, Ngozi Iweha, yesterday, said the institution is committed to securing the release of their provost.
Professor Uwakwe urged citizens with useful information to make it available to the security agencies.
The university, which considered making available the abducted professor’s salary to the family, restated commitment to doing anything possible that could lead to his rescue.
He prayed for God’s intervention and appealed to his abductors to release him.
