Abiodun, Amosun mourn Ekundayo Opaleye

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, and former governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, have paid heartfelt tributes to the late Maj.-Gen. Ekundayo Opaleye the former military governor of old Ondo State.

Opaleye, who served as military governor from August 1986 to 1987 during the regime of Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (rtd), passed away on Saturday in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Abiodun, who described the late Opaleye as a patriotic military officer and an exemplary administrator, acknowledged the significant contributions made by Opaleye to the nation and expressed gratitude for his service.

Similarly, Amosun also shared his grief over the loss of Opaleye whom he hailed as an illustrious son of Owu Kingdom and a dedicated military officer. He highlighted Opaleye’s selfless service in the Nigerian Army, where he undertook various military assignments in Nigeria and Africa.

Amosun recalled Opaleye’s unwavering commitment to the development of Owu Kingdom, Egbaland, and Ogun State. He extended his thoughts and prayers to Opaleye’s family as they mourn his passing and expressed his condolences to the Olowu of Owu, the Balogun of Owu, the Owu Traditional Council of Chiefs, and the Nigerian military, all of whom have lost a valuable member. He prayed for eternal rest for the deceased and strength for his family to bear the loss.
