Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has sworn in seven new commissioners and a deputy chief of staff, charging them to efficiently utilise resources in their care towards realisation of the ISEYA mantra
The new commissioners include Oludotun Taiwo (Forestry), Ganiyu Hamzat (Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs), Mrs. Motunrayo Adeleye-Oladapo (Culture and Tourism), Mr. Oladimeji Oresanya (Environment), Mrs. Olufemi Ilori-Oduntan (Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs), Abayomi Hunye (Community Development and Co-operatives) and Mr. Jamiu Odetoogun (Rural Development), while the former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo, is the new Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor.
Abiodun, at the swearing in ceremony held at the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, also charged the new appointees to always be conscious of taking the state to an unprecedented height.
He further admonished them to be accountable and ensure that they remain connected to the people as worthy ambassadors of the present administration’s policy of inclusiveness.
IN another development, Abiodun has urged wives of government functionaries, under the aegis of Spouses of Ogun State Government Functionaries Association (SOSGFA), to come up with innovative ideas that would bring more empowerment programmes and raise the pedigree of womenfolk in the state.
Abiodun gave the charge, yesterday, when he received executive members of the association led by his wife, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun.
He further charged them to encourage their husbands to live by example at all times, while exhibiting quality of humanity, transparency, honesty, accountability and decorum, which are characteristic traits of good leaders.
The governor said that his administration had signed the Executive Order giving women 35 per cent in government, while policies have been put in place to protect women and the vulnerable in the state.
Earlier, the governor’s wife commended the government for its giant stride in all sectors of the state’s economy, saying that the adoption of Nigeria for Women Programme and the Oko’wo Dapo had become a reference for women empowerment in the country.
