Former Military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, has said the 2019 general elections will mark a turning point to the country’s democracy.

Abubakar stated this in his Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslims in Minna, Niger State yesterday, pointing out that the 2019 elections would prove the maturity of Nigeria’s democracy.

He also urged politicians to play by the rules to ensure free and fair polls, saying this will only be possible if politicians and the electorate avoid do or die elections.

He urged Muslims to abide by the words of Prophet Mohammed and copy his lifestyle, as well as try to live peaceably with people of different religions.

Speaking, Niger State Deputy Governor, Ahmed Mohammed Ketso asked the people of the state to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to enable them to vote credible persons into office.
