Accord chairmen adjourn NEC, pass vote of confidence in Adeleke

The state chairmen of Accord Party in Nigeria have adjourned their National Executive Committee meeting indefinitely.

At a meeting on Thursday in Abuja, the chairmen of Accord Party in 27 states of the federation said the NEC meeting, which was supposed to hold today, would now be held at a later date.

In a communique issued after the meeting, the party’s state chairmen also passed a vote of confidence in Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State. They also pledged to mobilise support for his re-election bid ahead of the August 15, 2026 poll.

The communique was signed by Iliyas Badanga, the chairman of Accord Party’s state chairmen across the federation, who also doubles as the party’s state chairman for Kogi.

The communique was also co-signed by the party’s state chairmen from Jigawa, Cross River, Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara, Enugu, Katsina, Kano, Ekiti, Adamawa, Ebonyi, Kwara, Gombe, FCT, Abia, Delta, Borno, Bauchi, Taraba, Kebbi, Niger, Akwa Ibom, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo and Lagos.

The communique read, “This is the resolution of the state chairmen of Accord Party across Nigeria after a careful deliberation on the development of the party.

“So, we the undersigned state chairmen resolved as follows:

“That we unanimously defer our NEC meeting earlier scheduled today, July 16, 2026, to a further date in honour of Governor Ademola Adeleke;

“That we unanimously pass a vote of confidence in Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and pledge to mobilise members towards his re-election bid; and

“That our party remain strong and united.”
