Ace broadcaster, Bishop Taiwo of Oke-Osun Diocese, dies at 65

The Anglican Bishop of Oke-Osun Diocese and immediate past Director of Communication, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev. Foluso Taiwo, has died at 65.

The Anglican Bishop of Oke-Osun Diocese and immediate past Director of Communication, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev. Foluso Taiwo, has died at 65.

His death was confirmed in a statement sent to the Anglican Cable Network Nigeria (ACNNTV) by his son, Tobi.

According to the statement, Bishop Taiwo died yesterday (Wednesday) at 1.15 a.m., at Babcock Hospital, Sagamu, Ogun State.

Meanwhile, Primate of the Anglican Church in Nigeria, Archbishop Henry Chukwudum Ndukuba, has expressed shock over the demise of Bishop Taiwo.

Ndukuba, in a brief message, prayed God to uphold the wife and family members of the deceased, as well as the good people of Oke-Osun Diocese, in this period of mourning.

He also prayed God to grant the soul of Bishop Taiwo eternal rest.

Before venturing into priesthood, Taiwo had a successful career in the media beginning with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Ibadan, in 1980 as a freelance journalist and newscaster.

He also worked with the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) and while serving as a priest, he became the General Manager of Crowder Radio, Abuja.

After becoming the Director of Communication for the Church of Nigeria, Taiwo, a two-legged player, combined his work as a priest and spokesperson of the church with newscasting at the Anglican Cable Network Nigeria (ACNN) TV.
