Activist fights for independence of legislature in Ebonyi
Rights activist, Pascal Ogbonna, has canvassed the independence of the legislature in Ebonyi State.
Ogbonna, in a statement, called on the House of Assembly members to protect the interest of the citizenry.
The activist decried the intimidation of Ebonyi lawmakers by the executive, as they go cap in hand to solicit funds for operation.
He wondered why a state legislature would pass a budget without due diligence, adding that the idea of the quick passage of bills to the law in favour of some interests in the state without thorough deliberation by the assembly members could not serve the people right.
