Activist tasks EFCC on investigation of Oshiomhole, sues ex-government over alleged graft
Addressing a press conference yesterday in the ancient city, Ochei said he was in possession of 86 ‘exhibits’ and had filed a suit against Oshiomhole at an Abuja Federal High Court.
The case, with suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/628/2018, has the anti-graft agency and the ex-governor as first and second respondents.
The lawsuit followed EFCC’s alleged refusal to treat a petition earlier written by the plaintiff dated October 28, 2016 wherein he alleged economic and financial crimes against Oshiomhole.
In an ex-parte motion, the applicant is praying the court to compel the EFCC to commence the investigation and prosecution of the former governor in pursuant to Sections 6(b) & (h) and 13(2) of the EFCC Act, 2004.
Meanwhile, the African Union, Economic, Social and Cultural Council (AU ECOSOCC) Nigeria chapter is hosting members of the council on a four-day conference to popularise the organisation’s anti- corruption theme of the year, “Winning the Fight Against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation.”
To be declared open by President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja, the summit is employing a multi-stakeholders’ dialogue in proffering lasting solutions to the menace that has contributed hugely to the under-development of the continent. A position is expected at the end of the meeting.
According to the Nigeria Representative and Chairperson, Social Affairs and Health Cluster Dr. Tunji Asaolu, the conference will enable the cluster to come up with modalities to conduct index analysis and database on civil Society organisations working on health and social issues to support the work of the organ.
