Thousands of Adamawa workers yesterday shunned their official duties and invaded Yola International airport to welcome home former governor Ahmed Umaru Fintiri, who was released on bail by Federal High court sitting in Abuja  last week.

Fintiri who arrived the airport at exactly 12:30 pm was lifted up by the jubilant workers singing songs of praises and joy, while insisting that no amount of arrest or intimidation by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will stop them from standing behind the former governor whom they described as their hero. Those that spoke during the reception at the airport, said that since he (Fintiri) was able to paid their two months salaries Murtala Nyako’ s government refused to pay and he executed developmental projects that in seven years the government of Nyako was not able to execute, they will make any sacrifice for the ex-governor.

Also speaking, a member of Adamawa State House of Assembly, Mr. Emmanuel Tsamdu said that the arrest of Fintiri was politically motivated to demobilize the former governor ahead of 2019 general elections.  “Those that operate only in Abuja and they have no political base at home are looking for shortcut to plant their children, brothers and uncles in Yola Government House, but what they fail to understand is that the days of imposition are over they should ask People’s Democratic Party (PDP) the negative consequences of imposition of candidates”, he said.

Tsamdu decried what he termed “selective and political arrest of PDP ex-leaders”, while accusing the All Progressive Congress (APC)-led government of vendetta in its anti-graft war.

Fintiri who commended the workers for their support urged them to remain calm and pray to God to destroy the spirit of evil that is working to destroy their destiny and the future of their children.
