Adeniyi needs N9m for open heart surgery

An appeal has been made to the governments, non-governmental organizations and the public to assist Richard Adeniyi, a three-year-old boy child, who is a patient of the pediatric cardiology unit at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi Araba, Lagos.

Adeniyi needs an urgent financial support for an open-heart surgery in Germany by the end of February. He requires N9 million to be cured of the life-threatening disease in order to stay alive.

According to a clinical evaluation, Richard has symptomatic congenital heart disease, which was confirmed as Tetralogy of Fallot by Echocardiography. He requires urgent cardiovascular evaluation and open-heart surgery to correct his heart defects in order to forestall irreversible and life threatening complications.

He is the last among three siblings and his medical condition has weighed down the family physically, emotionally and financially.

His father, Mr. Amos Adeniyi, recalled that Richard was full of life before December 18, 2017, during breakfast when he could not finish his meal. He became very weak and his health condition changed drastically as he had seizure.

“We rushed him to a private hospital in Ifako where we were referred to LUTH. Within the short period, I have spent so much and am still buying expensive drugs, which Richard takes every eight hours to sustain him before the operation in Germany. I have emptied all my accounts to save his life, I cannot meet up financially, and I need help to save his life,” he said.
