Rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, has severed ties with the OurMumuDonDo Movement led by Charles Oputa (a.k.a. Charly Boy), citing loss of confidence in the leadership of the group. He disclosed this yesterday in Abuja to our reporter.

“Dear Nigerians, ‬I have resigned my membership of OurMumuDonDo. I no longer have confidence in the leader of the movement, Charly Boy. He betrayed the cause while I was away in prison and compromised with the oppressors,” Adeyanju stated in a WhatsApp message.

OurMumuDonDo, a Civil Society Organisation (CSO), has championed several human and societal rights crusades, with the support of Adeyanju and his Concerned Nigerians group.

The parties have held protests and activities that have put them in the frontline of the fight against corruption and injustice in public offices.

There has, however, been a cold war within the movement, which the ranks have made efforts to contain.A mild escalation in the management of state of affairs consequently led to the emergence of a Free Nigeria Movement (FNM) by some aggrieved members of OurMumuDonDo.

Adeyanju regained his freedom from Kano Central Prison after 78 days of controversial incarceration, following his arrest by the police on December 13, 2018.The absence of Charly Boy at the reception of Adeyanju at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja, raised questions, which deepened the cut. Charly Boy’s advocacy over the years earned him the sobriquet, ‘Area Fada’. So, his absence at Adeyanju’s reception was conspicuous and stoked ill-feelings.
