Again, fire razes Ibadan popular market
Few weeks after a section of the popular Bodija Market went up in flames, another famous market, Agbeni in Ibadan, Oyo State, was in the early hours of yesterday razed by fire.
The market is one of the biggest fabric markets in Nigeria. The Guardian gathered that the fire started at about 04:30a.m. on Sunday. Confirming the incident, the General Manager of the state’s Fire Services, Yemi Akinyinka, said the agency received a distress call at about 04:37a.m through a bank security man, Sunday Ogundele, that Agbeni market was on fire. He stressed that the cause of the fire was yet unknown.
“Our men quickly reached out to contain the fire. We are grateful to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for allowing us access to their water supply. Everything is under control,” he added.
