Again, terrorists attacked Kaduna and abducted two All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains while returning from a meeting with Christian leaders in Kafanchan in Southern Kaduna. The attackers opened fire on the party chieftains, who accompanied the APC governorship candidate, Senator Uba Sani to Kafanchan for the political engagement at Tashar Icce Village, along the busy Kaduna-Kachia late Thursday. 

Though the state police command was yet to issue a statement on the attack, a source said some of the victims were receiving medical attention at 44 Military Hospital in the state. 

Among those abducted were the APC House of Assembly candidate from Kajuru, identified as Madaki, and the Vice Chairman of the party in Kajuru Local Council, Reuben Waziri.

Waziri’s relative, Ben Maigari, confirmed the kidnap, adding that the family was yet to be contacted by the abductors. It would be recalled that the governorship candidates of different political parties met with Christian leaders in Kafanchan.

No fewer than three thousand clergymen and Christian leaders from 11 local councils that make up Southern Kaduna met and interacted with governorship candidates seeking to govern Kaduna State in 2023.

The meeting, which was tagged “Southern Kaduna Pastor’s Congress,” had in attendance, five governorship candidates in attendance, except that of that of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Isa Ashiru, and Action Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator Caleb Zagi, who sent their apologies for nability to attend.

The candidates present included candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Uba Sani; Action Alliance (AA), Mr. Timothy Adamu; New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi; All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr. Andrew Duya; and Labour Party (LP).
