Terrorists remain on the prowl for the umpteenth time, as the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) has raised the alarm over the kidnap of a district head and six others at Gurzan Kurama community in Kaduna State.
According to the group, yesterday, the bandits were said to have attacked the settlement on Saturday night and abducted the following: the district head, Yakubu Jadi; Iliya Yakubu; Nehemiah Tanko; Thomas Tanko; Jadi’s daughter and the Catholic catechist of the community.
SOKAPU, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Josiah Yusuf Abraks, described the incident “as unfortunate, alarming and worrisome.”
“SOKAPU is calling on security agencies and relevant authorities to put in their very best to ensure the quick and safe release of the district head, Mr Yakubu Jadi and six others,” he said.
The spokesman added: “The trauma being experienced by the victims, families and entire community can only be imagined. The union is calling on governments at all levels to do more in the protection of lives and properties of its citizens.
“All communities are enjoined to be more organised and vigilant against unusual faces and movements in their environments, and report such to appropriate authorities. Insecurity across the land must not be allowed to escalate.”
However, the state police command is yet to react to the latest incident.
