AIB concludes findings on Dana Air Plane crash of 2012
The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) has concluded investigations into the cause of the Dana Air Plane crash in Lagos exactly four year ago yesterday.
The Bureau, in response to agitation by families and friends of 153 victims that perished in the incident, said the final report had been sent to relevant stakeholders for comments and suggestions, prior to making it public.
Spokesman of the AIB, Tunji Oketunbi, said the action of passing the report around was as required by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), Annex 13 chapter 6.3, adding that the final reports of the investigation would be released to the public very soon.
Oketunbi said the interim statement marking the fourth anniversary of the unfortunate incident was already on the Bureau’s website, adding that efforts at resolving and harmonising the issues raised by the stakeholders’ comments and suggestions delayed the release of the final report.
The Bureau, in the interim statement, explained: “The issues raised by the stakeholders, which required further scientific testing, have almost completely been addressed and the Final Report will be made public very soon.”
