AIB probes Lagos airport runway incident
The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) Nigeria, yesterday, launched an inquiry into a serious runway incident involving Boeing 737-300 aircraft operated by Air Peace.
The plane, with nationality and registration number 5N-BUQ, allegedly had a burst tyre on landing at the Lagos airport around 9:31p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2021.
The airline has, however, denied severity of the incident.
The Guardian learnt that the aircraft, with 127 passengers and six crew members onboard, was en-route Lagos from Abuja.
AIB stated that it had a burst tyre on landing on Runway 18R of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, and taxied to GAT. There was no injury or fatality.
Spokesperson of the AIB, Tunji Oketunbi, said his agency needed assistance to investigate the event.
