Ajayi Crowther varsity Deputy Vice Chancellor becomes NAL member
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Prof. Olumuyiwa Popoola, has become a member of the Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL).
Popoola, a professor of Journalism, Communication and Media Studies, was taken by providence to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where in 1999 he bagged a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Hons in Mass Communication with First Class and won the prizes for the best graduating student in the Department and the best final year student in the Faculty.
Subsequently, he obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc) in Mass Communication at the University of Lagos.
As in Nsukka, he earned the university’s teaching assistantship award and was recognised for recording the best performance on the programme.
His persistent thirst for knowledge, hard work and excellence were crowned at the University of Ibadan (UI), where he was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Media and Cultural Studies.
Muyiwa Popoola is happily married with children.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has celebrated his admission into the prestigious body.
“As we felicitate with Olumuyiwa Popoola on this momentous occasion, we convey our best wishes,” NUJ Chairman, Oyo State Council, Demola Babalola, said.
