Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, yesterday, approved increment in the pension allowances of retirees in the state. The state’s Head of Service, Mr. Kayode Ogundele, who disclosed this in his office in Akure, the state capital, said the approval was in conformity with the consequential adjustment arising from the implementation of the national minimum wage in 2019 in the country.
According to him, those who retired before January 1, 2020, which is the effective date of the current minimum wage regime, would benefit from the new approval.
Ogundele applauded Akeredolu for prioritising the well-being of workers.
REACTING, Permanent Secretary of the State Pension Transition Department, Mr. Abiodun Akinseloyin, described the approval as a welcome development, saying that it will enhance the living conditions of the retirees.
