The standard-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has promised to diversify the state’s economy if elected at the polls.

He spoke at a rally in Irele local council, where he visited Ajagba, Iyansan, Akotogbo and other towns in the area.

The candidate promised to create employment through agriculture, adding that he would leverage on the vast mineral resources in the state to boost the economy.

Akeredolu said Ondo could no longer wait for the monthly federal allocations to grow its economy.

He promised to engage the youths in mechanised farming and create an enabling environment for agriculture to thrive in the state.

The candidate said this became necessary since the price of crude oil has fallen and the activities of the Niger Delta militants have continued to disrupt crude oil production.

He said he would also create entrepreneurial institutions to empower the youths to be self-reliant.
