Akeredolu sets up COVID-19 respond fund raising committee
Bode George Donates N160m to Contain Scourge
Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has set up a seven-man Respond Fund Committee to amongst others raise and manage resources to be used to complement the state’s effort to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
Also, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has donated N160m to cushion the effect of lockdown by the Federal Government.
Akeredolu, in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Donald Ojogo, announced Mr. Kayode Falowo as chairman, and Engr. Akinwumi Odumakinde as Deputy Chairman.
“The committee will work closely with the State Inter-ministerial Committee, and they are expected to begin work immediately till the pandemic is wiped out of our state and Nigeria in general.”
George’s donation includes cash, cows, bags of rice, groundnut oil, bottled water and beans, which were distributed to the needy, irrespective of their political party affiliations.
