The Chairman of Akoko North East Local Council, Olawale Mohammed, has pledged his administration’s support for the military personnel stationed in the area during a visit to the Nigerian Army Forward Operating Base in Auga-Akoko.

The council boss, who vowed to prioritise security since assuming office, led a delegation of top council officials to the facility where he conducted a tour of operational areas and held extensive deliberations on pressing security matters.

Mohammed assured the military personnel that his administration would continue to provide every necessary support to enhance their effectiveness in the discharge of their duties, noting that the security of the local government area remained his topmost priority.

While commending the courage, professionalism, and dedication demonstrated by the officers and men, he stated that their sacrifice had not gone unnoticed and would continue to be acknowledged by his administration.

The chairman further called on residents of council to embrace their role as active partners in the security enterprise, urging vigilance, cooperation with security agencies, and prompt reporting of suspicious activities to the authorities.

He said, “The level of preparedness, dedication, and professionalism demonstrated by the officers is truly commendable and reassuring.

“In recognition of their sacrifices and invaluable service, I presented food items and other essential supplies to the personnel as a token of our administration’s appreciation.

“I also engaged with the officers to better understand their welfare and operational needs, reaffirming our commitment to providing the necessary support to enhance their effectiveness in the discharge of their duties.

“I wish to express my profound gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, whose visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to security continue to transform the security landscape of Ondo State.

“The establishment of the Nigerian Army Forward Operating Base reflects the governor’s resolve to ensure that every community enjoys peace, safety, and sustainable development.

“This landmark initiative will significantly strengthen efforts to tackle kidnapping, armed banditry, herder-related attacks, and other forms of criminality. More importantly, it will inspire greater confidence among residents, farmers, investors, and visitors, creating an environment where economic and social activities can thrive without fear.
