Akwa Ibom holds first education summit in Uyo today
Akwa Ibom State will today, Thursday, September 5, 2019, hold its maiden education summit and exhibition at Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio Hall in Uyo with the theme, “Human Capacity Development for Sustainable Transformation of Persons and Society.”
The summit is to provide a platform for teachers, principals, policy-makers, education officials, parents, and students to consider how to move the state’s educational system closer to the state’s elusive ideals; give every Akwa Ibom child an equal chance to succeed through networking, among others.
The state’s Commissioner for Education, Prof. Nse Essien, said the summit was targeted at creating an environment for developing the minds of Akwa Ibom people to enable them to assimilate the various developmental programmes and projects of the state administration in the education sector.
Essien said the state government could not afford to toy with the human capacity development of its citizens hence the convocation of the summit to chat a way forward for the education sector in the state development.
