Alake, mining leaders set for maiden SOMEA awards in Abuja

Nigeria’s solid minerals sector is set for a historic and defining moment as some of the nation’s responsible and innovative mining companies, industrial giants, policymakers, investors, and sector pacesetters emerge as nominees for the maiden edition of the highly anticipated award night.

The landmark industry event, organised in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, is already generating major national attention as stakeholders across the mining ecosystem prepare for what is being described as an influential recognition platform dedicated to advancing excellence, sustainability, innovation, leadership, and responsible mining practices in the country.

The event is scheduled to be held on May 14, 2026, at the Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja.

Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Henry Dele Alake, is to deliver the keynote address at the high-level gathering, which has already attracted confirmations from top government officials and industry stakeholders from across the country.
