Ambode appoints Muri-Okunola new head of service

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has approved the appointment of Mr. Hakeem Olayinka Muri-Okunola as the 21st Head of Service (HOS) in the state.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has approved the appointment of Mr. Hakeem Olayinka Muri-Okunola as the 21st Head of Service (HOS) in the state.

In statement yesterday, the government said Okunola’s appointment followed the statutory retirement of Mrs. Folasade Sidikatu Adesoye on December 27, 2018.

The new head of service is the first son of the late Justice Muritala Okunola., who attended the University of Lagos, Akoka, and Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London, England, where he got Bachelors degree in Law (LLB. Hons) and Masters in International Business Law (LLM).

Muri-Okunola passed out from the Nigeria Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos, in 1995, and has had a fast rise in the civil service, having joined in 2001, when he served as the Company Secretary/Legal Adviser to Ibile Holdings Limited.

In 2003, he became the Personal Assistant to the then governor of the state, Bola Tinubu, while in 2005; he became the Executive Secretary to the Governor on Land Use and Allocation Committee.

In 2011, when he was just 39 years old, Muri-Okunola became permanent secretary in the same land ministry, and was untill his appointment, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Social Development.

Meanwhile, the governor has also appointed six new permanent secretaries. They include Dr. (Mrs.) Goncalves Titilayo Fausat; Mr. Kosoko Hakeem Adeyemi; Dr. (Mrs) Balogun Sherifat Bolajoko; Mr. Adeniji Segun Olufemi; Mrs. Adelaja Abosede Omobolanle, and Dr. Lawal Lateef Temidayo. The new head of service and the permanent secretaries would be sworn in today at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.
