The Federal Government has confirmed that Nigerian girls now have equal opportunities to aspire, going by efforts to dismantle barriers to the realisation of their full potential.
Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, submitted to the second edition of the ‘State of the Nigerian Girls’ Summit (SONGS)’, organised by Plan International Nigeria, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs in Abuja.
She said: “There are a lot of equal opportunities now for girls to be able to achieve anything they want to become in Nigeria. Now, we are creating that enabling environment to make sure that girls have equal opportunities, and they have so many people to look up to (role models) such as Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Amina Muhammed and others.
“What we are doing, is putting up those structures that would give those equal opportunities to them. Consistency is the key word. Life is never going to be easy, and there will always be curve balls thrown, but you have to be committed.”
