Amidst trials and turbulent times, the wife of embattled Professor Cyril Ndifon , Rita Ndifon has been elevated to a Professor at the Faculty of Education, University of Calabar.
The Ndifons also celebrated their 28 years marriage anniversary.
The Thanksgiving which took place yesterday at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Navy Barracks in Calabar, was officiated by Rev. Father Richmond Diara with hundreds of friends and well wishes in attendance.
Speaking shortly after renewing their wedding vows, Professor Rita Ndifon said her promotion to a Professor was recently announced in the midst of the challenges faced by her family.
While dedicating her success to her husband, the new Professor of Education expressed joy that despite trials and turbulents, she never allowed any challenge to stop her hard work.
“I feel so happy and fulfilled because this is what I have always wanted and God has helped me to achieve it. My promotion to Professorship was just recently announced in the midst of the challenges my family is facing.
“I worked hard, there are so many requirements, what it takes to be a professor is not lobbying, I didn’t take any shortcut. Everything is all about God, just put your trust in him and everything will be added, in fact, I have never allowed any challenge to way me down, if I want to look at challenges, I won’t be here celebrating, the bible said it that ” even in the valley of the shadow of death, God will be with you, so I know God is with me no matter the challenges, If I want to look at the challenges, I will not be thanking God and Praising him.”
On how she was able to manage her academic work despite her husband’s alleged sexual abuse by Students of the Faculty of Law and high handedness claims at the University of Calabar, she simply said, “If you love your husband, stand firm, challenges will come, it was a coincidence that we happen to celebrate our 28 years marriage anniversary and I thank God that my husband is here today to celebrate with me despite all odds.”
Speaking, one of the guest at the Thanksgiving ceremony, Mrs. Alice Eromabo described Professor Rita Ndifon as a woman whose lifestyle was Worthy of emulation.
Eromabo, an immediate Past Vice Chairman of Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State, said, “When you are dedicated to course, you will always achieve, so Prof. Rita Ndifon which she is now called has set a pace. She is a woman whose lifestyle is worthy of emulation, in the area of her marriage, she has been able to overcome .
“The Bible says in the second Corinthians chapter 10, verses 14, that there is no temptation that comes to any man that God will not give you the grace to overcome, whichever temptation that has come her way through what her husband has passed through, persecution and all manner of things, God has given her the grace to overcome them, that is why she has been strong and today, she is able to organize this Thanksgiving.
“And I told her that the Bible says, when there is a casting down, he says there is a lifting up, God will elevate her to the highest level, even the husband that is passed through all these challenges is going to be elevated.”
