The Ancient and Mystical Order Rosæ Crucis (AMORC), also known as the Rosicrucian Order, has urged Nigerians to be mindful of their diversity because of so many ethnic nationalities, religious denominations and the variety of customs in African culture.

Its President, Chief Kenneth Idiodi, stated this in a chat with newsmen in Lagos, at the weekend.

Idiodi, who was conferred with a national award of Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) by the immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari, said Nigerians should live by the understanding of the principle of unity in diversity.

He said: “If we all realise that our diversity is an asset rather than a liability, our aspiration towards national unity and cohesion will enable us remain grateful to God at any level we find ourselves through productive means of livelihood. This way, the labour of our heroes past will not be in vain.”

Idiodi, who pointed out that Nigerians need guaranteed safety of life and property wherever they are, added: “We need regular supply of electricity and water in our homes and offices. We need up-to-date and relevant modern education for our students and citizens of all ages in today’s digital world, so that young or old people are given productive means of livelihood.

“Nigerians need proper medical care to prevent medical tourism to other countries, since healthy people make healthy nation. We need to restore our cultural respect for the sanctity of human life through national health insurance, reliable pension schemes and a bank structure that guarantees ease of doing business.”

Idiodi sees the national honour as a call to greater service and recognition, stressing that national awards strengthen one’s resolve to remain committed to the community, nation and humanity.

The AMORC leader noted some contributions he had made in his community, as well as towards nation-building and human civilisation globally, adding that the recipient of a national honour should rededicate him or herself to worthwhile goals that would benefit fellow human beings.
