Amotekun applauds FG’s declaration of bandits as terrorists
Chairman of the Western Nigerian Security Network and Ondo State Commander of Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, has described Federal Government’s decision to declare bandits as terrorists as a welcome development.
He assured that the corps in collaboration with other security agencies would do the needful to support the Federal Government declaration towards ensuring that the terrorist groups were frontally defeated.
Adeleye, who stated this while speaking with The Guardian in Akure, yesterday listed the gains achieved since the corps launched the interstate border patrol towards the end of last year.
A ruling of the Federal High Court in Abuja in November 2021, ordered the Federal Government to declare the activities of Yan Bindiga and Yan Ta’adda bandit groups as acts of terrorism.
The court also ordered the Federal Government to effect the declaration by publishing it in its public gazette, which Spokesman of the Attorney General of the Federation, Umar Gwandu, shared to journalists.
Adeleye recounted the success stories since the commencement of the joint border patrol, adding that the operational base between Ondo and Osun states’ Amotekun Security Network was domiciled in Ondo.
