Analysts urge government to create enabling environment for solid minerals exploitation
The Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria (IPAN) has urged the Federal Government to create enabling business environment to maximise the exploitation of solid minerals industry.
According to them, solid minerals have a huge potential of creating wealth, job opportunities and economic growth for the nation.
They also said low awareness and non-involvement of Public Analysts in the solid mineral sector were the factors limiting the growth of the sector.
Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, IPAN, Mr. Aliyu Angara made the remarks at the Institute’s 28th Mandatory Training Workshop titled: Contemporary Analytical Laboratory Practice: Overcoming Sectoral Challenges held in Ikeja, Lagos.
The registrar lamented that wastages, leakages, and incompetence led to low productivity and inefficiency in various sectors of the economy.
Angara said: “NAFDAC should mandate all imported pharmaceutical and chemical products to be tested by Public Analysts laboratories for quality certification before clearing. IPAN should liaise with government to attract laboratory equipment manufacturers and marketers to establish manufacturing plants in Nigeria.”
