Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano has confirmed the second case of Coronavirus was a man who recently sneaked into the state after a trip to Kano, regretting that he gained entry despite his administration’s efforts to tighten security at the boundaries. Obiano pointed out that the man was currently receiving attention in one of the Protective Care Centres, adding that the residence of the index case has been sealed off while aggressive contact tracing to minimize the wave of community spread that might arise from the case had commenced.

Obiano who made the disclosure in a special broadcast, urged the people to remain calm as they were on top of the situation to ensure that the threat is contained. “Consequently, we have directed security agents to ensure that movement into Anambra by individuals and groups shall no longer be allowed. We are determined to enforce the federal order restricting movement between states across the country,” he added.

Though he did not talk about any plans of another lockdown in the state, he ordered a total restriction of vehicular and human traffic into the state from 8pm to 6am, saying every movement into the state, including those carrying essential goods and services must wait till the next morning. He added that a special training for professionals who would work in the laboratories was ongoing in readiness for the inauguration of said laboratories.
