Anambra presents N157.1b 2019 budget to state assembly
Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, yesterday presented N157.1 billion to the state House of Assembly as appropriation bill for 2019.
Obiano, who described it as “Budget for Sustained Economic Growth and Youth Empowerment,” said it is equally hinged on creating jobs for the unemployed, as well as boosting the state economy.
He said the government expects to spend N65.33 billion, or 41.3 per cent on Recurrent Expenditure and N91.8billion, or 58.7 per cent on capital expenditure.
According to him, it would help to drive government’s policy thrusts of Sustaining Economic Growth and Youth Empowerment, adding that the proposal was lower than that of 2018, which was N166.7 billion naira.
The governor said: “The estimate illustrates the administration’s resolve to continue to deliver the dividends of good governance to the people of the state.
“The sustained economic growth and youth empowerment entails that the state would carefully assess all activities and make difficult trade-offs to ensure that we focus solely on implementing projects and programmes that provide infrastructural growth in the state.”
