Annual council on hydrocarbons to be inaugurated soon
Dr Ibe Kachikwu, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, will on Nov. 21 inaugurate the annual meeting on hydrocarbons in Abuja.
Kachikuwu said this in an article posted on the ministry’s website by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Jamila Shua’ra.
He said that President Muhammadu Buhari had given approval for the resuscitation of the National Council on Hydrocarbons after the Federal executive Council meeting on Oct. 5.
According to him, the FEC had approved the resuscitation of body which is an ombudsman council that meets once a year at extraordinary times to review policies in the sector.
“It should be a gathering of people from business, oil sector, oil communities and ministries that are directly or indirectly affected by the policies we roll out in the ministry.
“The council had been in existence but in the last couple of years disappeared into oblivion and today, the council approved for us to resuscitate it.’’
Kachikwu called for memoranda in hard or soft copies to be submitted to the ministry on issues such as upstream, downstream, gas, Infrastructure and local content.
Other issues include environment, security and community relations, business relations, legislation, regulation and policy.
