The coordinator of Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), Umar Shuaibu, has warned that anyone caught defacing the city will henceforth be prosecuted by the law enforcement agencies.

Shuaibu gave the warning yesterday at a sensitization campaign embarked upon by AMMC in Abuja. He appealed to residents to immediately desist from indiscriminate pasting of posters on walls, bridges, road signs, sign boards, illegal advertisements and other public structures or they risk facing the music.

He said: ‘’It is worrisome to see activities of these elements adversely affecting the beauty of the city. Government can no longer fold its arms and watch the ugly trend continue. We are now out, we want keep the city clean and also bring to book all those who are involved in placing illegal advertisement on walls and other public facilities.”

Also speaking, a Deputy Director in the Department of Advertisements and Signage (DOAS), Mr. Richard Aderinwale, called on residents to always do the right thing when advertising in Abuja. He urged them to always seek the appropriate guidelines from DOAS to know how and what it takes to place advertisements of all kinds in the city.
