Coalition of elders, leaders, stakeholders and loyal members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the three senatorial districts of Kwara State has picked Dr. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (B.O.B) as its preferred 2027 governorship candidate, declaring him the most qualified for the job.
At a press conference at the weekend at the Correspondents’ chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Ilorin, the group said its position followed “extensive consultations and objective assessment of the state’s political landscape,” stressing that Kwara stands at a critical point that demands tested leadership anchored on integrity, competence and unity.
In a joint statement by the concerned elders from Kwara Central, Kwara North and Kwara South, read by Barrister Ladi Mustapha, the stakeholders described Bolarinwa as a leader with “proven integrity and unwavering commitment to service.”
They noted that his public and private conduct reflects discipline, transparency and responsibility.
They further highlighted his over two decades of his political and administrative performance as councillor, Lagos mainland local government chairman, member of the House of Representatives, and former chairman of the APC in Kwara State.
According to them, his leadership record demonstrates resilience and an exceptional capacity to manage both human and material resources.
The elders, who also pointed to his academic credentials, noted that as a PhD holder, Bolarinwa possesses the intellectual depth required to drive socio-economic transformation and reposition the state’s education sector.
On party loyalty, the group commended his steadfastness despite political challenges, including periods of marginalisation, adding that his continued alignment with the party and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu underscore his commitment to collective progress over personal ambition.
Describing him as a unifying figure, the stakeholders said Bolarinwa has built bridges across the three senatorial districts, cutting across ethnic, religious and political lines.
They added that his relationship with traditional institutions, youth groups, professionals and grassroots communities positions him to deliver inclusive governance.
They also recalled his role in the 2019 “O To Ge” political movement, which reshaped the state’s political dynamics, citing his grassroots mobilisation strength and strategic leadership.
Beyond politics, the group noted that Bolarinwa’s background in business equips him with the economic insight needed to boost internally generated revenue, create jobs and promote sustainable development, particularly in agriculture and commerce.
The statement added that his leadership philosophy, rooted in faith, compassion and justice, reflects a people-centred approach to governance.
“Kwara State deserves a leader who is tested, trusted and truly connected to the people. Dr. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa embodies these qualities,” the elders said, expressing confidence that his leadership would bring unity, growth and development to the state.
They consequently endorsed his aspiration and urged party members and the electorate to rally behind him in the build-up to the 2027 governorship election.
