…Abiodun backs Adeola, calls on members to unite for party’s victory at polls

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has unanimously endorsed Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was reached at the party’s Strategic Caucus Meeting held at the APC Secretariat in Abeokuta, with key stakeholders in attendance, including former governors Olusegun Osoba, Gbenga Daniel, and Senator Ibikunle Amosun, among other party leaders.

Ogun West Senatorial District, since the creation of the state in 1979, has yet to produce a governor. Adeola’s emergence as the party’s consensus candidate is widely seen as a move that could end the long-standing political imbalance in the state.

Speaking at the meeting, Governor Dapo Abiodun expressed support for the emergence of a candidate from Ogun West, noting that he would be pleased to see the zone produce the next governor of the state.

He urged party leaders and members to replicate the consensus arrangement across all political positions in their respective senatorial districts to reduce internal conflicts and prevent anti-party activities ahead of the 2027 elections.

Abiodun, however, cautioned party members against premature celebration, stressing that the endorsement of a candidate does not guarantee electoral victory.

“Let us remember that deciding on our candidate does not mean we have won the election. We must go back to our wards and mobilise effectively for victory. What we have done is to reduce internal acrimony and strengthen unity within the party,” he said.

He emphasised the need for unity, discipline, and strategic preparation, urging members to remain focused on the larger goal of winning the general elections.

“Let us leave here united. This is about preparing for a bigger contest ahead. It is better to be prepared than to be underprepared,” he added, while congratulating Senator Adeola on his emergence as the party’s consensus candidate.

In his remarks, Senator Adeola called for unity among party members, urging them to work collectively to secure victory for the APC in Ogun State and across the country in 2027.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Abiodun and party leaders for the confidence reposed in him, pledging not to take their support for granted.

Adeola assured stakeholders of his commitment to working with all party members to build a better Ogun State if elected.
