APC, others pay tributes as Senator Basiru loses mother

Senator Ajibola Basiru

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed sorrow at the passing of Mrs Sidikat Basiru, the mother of its National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, following her passing yesterday.

In a condolence message to the bereaved Basiru family on behalf of the National Working Committee (NWC), party leaders and members across the country, APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, said the matriarch’s life was defined by faith, dignity, sacrifice and unwavering devotion to her family.

Yilwatda, according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, noted that while the passing of a loved one is always painful, there is great comfort in the fact that Mrs Basiru lived a fulfilled life, raised exemplary children, and left behind enduring values that continue to inspire all who came in contact with her.

Praying that the Almighty Allah forgives the deceased’s shortcomings, grant her eternal rest and comfort Senator Basiru, siblings and the entire family, Yilwatda further urged Basiru to take solace in the fact that his life of integrity, discipline, humility and service reflects his mother’s legacy.

Also, in a statement yesterday, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the late woman as a devout Muslim, a compassionate mother and a respected matriarch whose life was defined by faith, sacrifice and selfless service.

According to Morka, her “wisdom and exemplary character, moral values and religious piety are evidently reflected in the life and remarkable public service record of our national secretary, among other accomplished children that she raised with love and devotion.”

Also, the APC governorship candidate for Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, described the woman’s death as a painful loss, saying it has definitely left a void that words can hardly fill, regardless of age or circumstance.
