APC wins Kaduna Reps by-election


The All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Ahmad Mannir, has been declared winner of the Lere Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives by-election of Kaduna State with 34,958 votes to defeat his close rival, Ibrahim Usman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 16,271 ballots.

Declaring the results, the Returning officer (RO), Prof. Adamu Wada Attah, stated that Suleiman Danlami Lere of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) garnered 226 votes, while Salihu Malami of the Young Progressives Party (YYP) got 294 ballots and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) was credited with 125 votes without fielding a candidate.

The RO said 52,897 voters were accredited, as 51,874 valid votes were recorded with 712 ballots rejected.
