Northern Christian Youth Professionals (NCYP) has urged President Bola Tinubu to appoint Northern Christians into strategic positions, such as Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF) and heads of security organs.

It also commended the President for removing fuel subsidy, saying the move is key to reforming the nation’s economy.

NCYP Chairman, Isaac Abrak, disclosed this in a statement, wherein he congratulated Tinubu on his inauguration as 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He also recalled support by the group towards mobilising Christians from the region to vote for the President

Abrak said: “As you (Tinubu) assume the highest office in the land, we acknowledge the immense responsibilities that lie before you. We are confident in your ability to lead our great nation towards a prosperous future.

“With this in mind, we would like to humbly remind you of the support we provided during your campaign and respectfully request that you prioritise the appointment of Northern Christians into strategic positions within your administration.”

He said Northern Christians have long yearned for increased representation and inclusion in decision-making processes.

He noted that by appointing deserving Northern Christians as SGF and security chiefs, the President would not only have acknowledged “our collective support but also ensured that the diverse voices and perspectives of the region are duly represented at the highest levels of governance.”

He commended the President for audaciously announcing the removal of fuel subsidy, saying the step demonstrates commitment to implementing crucial reforms for the progress of Nigeria.

He told Tinubu: “Remain steadfast in your resolve and push forward with this vital policy, keeping in mind its potential to create a more sustainable and equitable economic environment for all Nigerians.

“Additionally, we would like to highlight your promise to revitalise the Forest Guards, an initiative that holds immense significance in securing our forests from the threats of Boko Haram, bandits and other violent groups.”
