The Arewa leaders, under the aegis of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) have called on the Federal Government to immediately initiate measures that will ameliorate the sufferings of the Fulani herdsmen since President Muhammadu Buhari suspended the RUGA policy.

According to the northern socio-cultural group, the decision of the government to suspend Ruga is a welcome development, in as much as it is inconsistent with the National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP).

In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of ACF, Alhaji Mohammad Ibrahim Bui, the group said since government suspended the policy, it should immediately put up machinery for implementing measure that will address the sufferings of herders, just as Biu lamented their plight.

Besides, the ACF spokesman warned those fanning embers of crisis to desist from such act and support efforts to promote peace and unity across the nation.
