Arinze celebrates Mass to honour Governor Obiano, others
Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments at the Vatican, Francis Cardinal Arinze, will lead a pontifical Mass preceding special awards by the Catholic Church to Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State and two leading Anglicans in the state, Chief Obi Adimora and Chidi Amamgbo, for promoting social harmony.
The event will take place at Christ the King Parish, Umuezeawala, Ihiala, according to the chairman of the planning committee, Prof. Chuka Chukwube of the University of Lagos, and the secretary, Martin Nwabineli, a Lagos-based businessman.
Edwin Enwegbara, a hydrologist and former president of the Nigerian Water Association (NWA), will chair the event.
The organisers stated: “All three persons are being recognised for working for the good of all in the society regardless of social differences.
“In the case of Governor Obiano, for instance, the whole nation is proud of how he led Anambra State, early this year, to give former Vice President Alex Ekwueme a befitting funeral, which lasted for days, despite that they belonged to different political parties.”
