ASHRAE Nigeria chapter holds lecture

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), Nigeria chapter,has scheduled its yearly distinguished lecture and 15th anniversary to hold from Tuesday, May 13, 2025, to Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos. 

According to ASHRAE Nigeria chapter President, Adewunmi Michael, the lecture has the theme “Building Energy Efficient Design Towards Reducing Consumption from National Grid.” 

Adewunmi said that the distinguished lecturer is Dr Hesham Safwat, a Senior Lecturer at British University in Egypt and ASHRAE Global training instructor; the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Margaret Aina Oguntala is guest of honour and distinguished guest of honour is Mohammed Bassel Anbari, Managing Director Inter- Cool Central Air Conditioning and ASHRAE Director and Regional Chair (DRC) Region at Large (RAL). 

In his contribution, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Abayomi Akindele, revealed that “ASHRAE has over 50,000 members in more than 130 countries worldwide and just like the Nigerian chapter, the society and its members focus on building systems, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, refrigeration and sustainability within the engineering industry.”

“ASHRAE, founded in 1894, is a global society advancing human well-being through sustainable technology for the built environment.” 

“Through research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education, ASHRAE shapes tomorrow’s built environment today”, he stated.  Akindele further explained that the ASHRAE Nigerian chapter’s 2025 distinguished lecture topic focused on energy efficiency in building operations towards the achievement of the net-zero sustainability goal.

Meanwhile, professionals expected to attend the distinguished lecture include Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) designers, HVAC contractors, HVAC manufacturers, HVAC sales representatives, architects, data centre designers and contractors, hotels, hospitals, healthcare facility managers, as well as oil and gas data centre engineers.
