The Food, Beverage and Tobacco Senior Staff Association (FOBTOB) has cautioned the Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, to respect the directives on suspension of the sachet alcohol ban enforcement pending further clarification on implementation.

The order, which has been circulating on social media, is yet to be rebutted by the two offices.
However, Adeyeye, in response to the report halting sachet alcohol ban enforcement by the Federal Government, described the publication as false and misleading, noting that it did not reflect any official communication from the Federal Government.

But angered by NAFDAC’s reaction, members of the affected distilleries barricaded the Lagos office of NAFDAC in protest against the continued ban on sachet alcohol drinks.

Meanwhile, NAFDAC has dismissed the reports circulating on social media and other platforms alleging that protesters have “shut down” its Lagos office.

In a statement yesterday, the management said that the report is false and misleading.

It, however, said that NAFDAC remains fully committed to its mandate of safeguarding public health and enforcing all regulatory measures, including the ban on sachet alcohol.
