At Delta commissioner’s church service, cleric tasks Nigerians on gratitude
Christians world over have been enjoined to give gratitude all-time to God irrespective of situations.
The parish priest of St Peters Catholic Church Iselegu, Ndokwa East Local Council Delta State, Reverend Father Vincent Owoaka, gave the charge yesterday during a thanksgiving service for 18 female members of the Chika Ossai Support Group that recently survived a ghastly motor accident.
He also charged Nigerians and faithful alike on the need to celebrate the Creator through thanksgiving, noting that it was the only way to give back to Him for all His goodness.
The cleric said: “The world needs peace and mankind must allow God to use them to ensure a peaceful atmosphere in the world. That way, everyone will become an agent of peace.”
Owoaka commended Ossai, who is the state’s Commissioner for Lands and Survey, and members of his support group for recognising God’s favour, congratulating the survivors.
“With this special mercy of God on you, I urge you to use this occasion and grace of God upon you to work for Him.”
In his address, the commissioner noted: “God has shown me, members of the group and political associates mercy. The news of the accident destabilised me, but God, in His mercy, took charge of what could have turned to a fatal situation.”
He used the occasion to call on Deltans to continue to invest in evangelism for bountiful harvest, stating: “The thanksgiving was the only way to appreciate God for the lives of those involved in the near fatal motor accident.”
Those that graced the event include the member representing Bomadi constituency in the State House of Assembly, Asupa Fortetea; the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Fidelis Tilijie; his Culture and Tourism counterpart, Mr. Lawrence Ejiofor, and a Commissioner on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Ikechukwu Akozor.
