At least 17 killed as Russia launches largest-ever Air attack on Kyiv

Russia's President Vladimir Putin delivers his address in Moscow

At least 17 people have been killed after Russia launched what Kyiv’s mayor described as the largest aerial assault on the Ukrainian capital since the war began.

The overnight barrage involved hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles, causing widespread destruction across residential neighborhoods and civilian infrastructure. Several apartment buildings were heavily damaged, with emergency crews continuing search and rescue operations for people trapped beneath the rubble.

Dozens more were injured in the attack, while Ukrainian officials said multiple districts of the capital were affected. Authorities have declared a day of mourning as rescue efforts continue.

The latest assault comes amid escalating hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, with Moscow saying the strikes were carried out in response to recent Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory.
